The Group of 20 major economies have agreed to join efforts to combat disinformation and establish principles for the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI). The agreement was reached at the G20 Digital Ministers’ meeting in Bali, Indonesia. The ministers acknowledged the need for a coordinated approach to address the spread of disinformation, which poses risks to democratic societies and open markets. They committed to working together to build trust and strengthen resilience against disinformation. Additionally, the G20 nations agreed on a set of principles for the development and use of AI, including promoting human-centered AI, fostering public trust, protecting human rights, and ensuring the safety and robustness of AI systems. The principles aim to harness the benefits of AI while mitigating potential risks and addressing challenges related to AI governance, ethics, and accountability.
